De Quervain's Tenosynovitis

Learn how to treat De Quervain’s Tenosynovitis by using a comprehensive approach to reduce pain, support healing and promote function.

Our first presenter, Mary-Jane Nqwena, explains how an understanding of the anatomy of the EPB and APL tendons can help us to identify and address causes of De Quervain’s tenosynovitis in individual patients. She then demonstrates how to clinically reason through various splinting and taping options, taking each individual’s symptoms and functional needs into account.

Jaqui Eksteen explains the importance of a multimodal approach for achieving long lasting resolution of De Quervain’s symptoms. She covers pharmacological interventions, immobilisation, patient education, activity modifications, therapeutic modalities and manual therapy techniques. She then discusses indications for surgery, and effective post-surgical intervention.
