Open Hand goes to Washington, DC

Nicola and Kirsty had the privilege of representing the Open Hand Therapy Initiative at the international hand therapy and surgery congress in Washington, DC.
The congress took place from 24 to 28 March and was attended by delegates from 52 countries. The diverse programme covered a wide variety of hand conditions and other important topics in hand therapy and surgery. There was a lot to learn, and plenty of opportunities to network with therapists from other parts of the world – including some who have been attending our webinars!
Nicola did two paper presentations on the difficulties we face providing hand therapy in low resource settings, and what the Open Hand Therapy Initiative is doing to equip therapists working in these contexts. Kirsty gave an inspiring presentation on challenges and opportunities in rural health care.
But it wasn’t all work. There was also lots of fun to be had exploring a beautiful city!
